Danke. Rainer Jogschies

May he rest in peace our fabulous Doc Mohr!

My apologies but I've lived abroad too long to trust my German.

My sincere condolences! What a teacher! What a man!

I had the very good fortune to have had Doc Mohr as my teacher in 10th grade at Geschwister Scholl Altenwalde and was then invited to join his AG at Lichtenberg the following year. He was such a character! I was always exceedingly fond of this highly intelligent eccentric!

There was nothing usual about this teacher! He utterly loved his chemistry and tried to encourage his students as best as he could in his unusual way. Although not always the most patient man. You could tell he was a chemist come to teaching due to the shortage of teachers at the time. A superbly brilliant man but an unconventional teacher. I remember him smoking his cigarette while handling chemicals, I remember coffee brewed in beakers and pizza heated in the dry oven!

I remember AG sessions (usually 5-6 of us dedicated lot) calculating and writing complex equations while having tea/coffee in his living room which transported you right back into the 60s.

He always wanted to take the Trans Sibirian Express, once he retired, from Russia all the way to China! I hope he did!

I knocked on his door a couple of times in the first years of my visits back to Germany but he was never in.

He was a fabulous person and his support as an invested and caring teacher meant a lot to me!

Truly and deeply saddened by his loss!

Dani

Dein Mann Frank Bruns
